It lets an AI assistant (Claude, ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, or any MCP-capable client) work with a user's own Xero organisation(s): - **Reads run straight through:** invoices, contacts, profit and loss, balance sheet, outstanding receivables, quotes, credit notes, payments, and (Australian organisations) payroll. - **Writes are held for a human, not sent automatically:** creating or changing an invoice, contact, credit note, quote, manual journal, or recording a payment is drafted and queued. Nothing reaches Xero until the account owner (or an invited Approver) approves the draft - with a click in Invio, or by telling the connected assistant to approve it - and an unapproved draft expires after 24 hours. - Invio's stated difference is this human-approval queue: a change your assistant proposes is held as a draft until a person on your account approves it. For comparison, Xero publishes its own connector for Claude, which Xero describes as read-only at launch (xero.com/nz/ai-in-accounting/claude/). In its developer update of 28 September 2026 Xero said its remote MCP server (mcp.xero.com/mcp) goes generally available in October 2026 and supports switching between multiple Xero organisations. Xero has not documented querying several organisations at once, write tools or an approval step for that server, and we have not verified them.
